Project Management for
Development Practitioners (PMDP)

An Overview
The PMDP training programme is designed to keep development
practitioners up to date with the relevant tools and techniques, which promote effective
management of development projects and programmes. The PMDP falls within our
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme for busy professionals.
This online training programme also paves the way for certification as a
Project Management Professional (PMP).
Project managers and project teams possess a broad skill base that
allows them to do the multi-tasking necessary for planning and completing
large-scale projects. This training
programme will help you to hone your skills that are essential for efficient
project management. The modules entail quality content,
interaction, graphics and quizzes, making learning interesting and effective.
As a part of our learning guarantee, our online training courses feature skills
assessment, questions, simulations, exercises and voice. The pass
grade is 55%.

This training programme is designed for persons working at all levels
and areas of international development.
What You Will Learn
Our online project management training programme will enhance and
professionalise your work experience. This CPD training programme will help to
formalise your experience and enhance both your technical and managerial
abilities. You will learn
about project cycle management, communication management, project human
resource management, participatory planning, project appraisal, and monitoring

Programme Objective
At the end of the PMDP programme,
candidates should be able to:
Ø
Demonstrate an understanding of the application of
project planning techniques.
Ø
Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of project appraisal, monitoring
and evaluation
Ø
Demonstrate
an understanding of the use of project management tools and techniques, such
as, logical framework; stakeholder analysis; and utilise various participatory
methodologies such as participatory focus group discussions.
Course Duration (self-paced) and Award
At
DPM International’s Online Training Institute (OTI), you may take your courses
anytime and anywhere during the time allotted for the course. You may choose to
complete the modules before the scheduled time. However, it is recommended that
you follow the time allocation and recommended contact hours for each topic
within a given module. All modules have a test/exam and some modules will have
simulations. You must complete all exercises and tests in each module in order
to receive a certificate of completion. Persons who complete all seven (7)
modules will receive a certificate of completion in Project Management for
Development Practitioners. Persons who complete selected modules will receive a
certificate of completion for that module.

Linval Johnson, PMP – Linval Johnson is a certified Project Management
Professional and is the Assistant Vice President, e-Business at First Global
Bank in
Sherrone Lobban MA
(Econ) – Sherrone Lobban is an experienced development practitioner and
the Chief Executive Officer and Lead project manager at DPM International. She
has over 15 years diverse experience in curriculum development, monitoring and
evaluation, strategic planning, and course facilitation. She has worked for the
Jamaican public sector, the United Nations and NGOs in the
Georgia Sinclair MBA
– Georgia Sinclair is multilingual and a lively
and avid Human Resources practitioner with over 12 years professional
experience as a trainer and 7 years experience in human resource development.
Her specialist areas include workshop facilitation, participatory strategic
planning, participatory learning, action planning and community based project
planning. Mrs. Sinclair has worked in both the private and public sector in the
fields of education as well as the tourism sector. She also uses participatory
methods in community planning projects and to facilitate strategic direction
sessions. Mrs Sinclair provides tertiary level training at the Management
Institute for National Development (MIND), including online training.
Guest Lecturers – Throughout the
programme, guest lecturers will be available to address queries and share
experiences and ideas with course candidates. Guest lecturers will include
qualified project management professionals (including persons who contributed
to the PMI standards and body of knowledge); and practicing development
professionals and academics.
